Hawaii 2013
We had our family vacation/anniversary in Hawaii! We stayed on the Island of Oahu for four nights. We loved our vacation. The first two days we lounged on Waikiki Beach. It was beautiful. The first, day we spent the whole morning on the beach, Brian bought a boogie board and ball and had a blast in the water!Later that day we all had a quick nap, and some ice cream. Lucky for us, there was a Haagen Dazs in our hotel. After our ice cream and nap, we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening on the beach. Brian and Jana swam in the ocean until there was no more light!
On the second day the kids took surfing lessons. They did so well! Jana's new favorite sport is surfing!
Next we visited Hanauma Bay. We read in a magazine it was a good beach to visit. We had no idea the beauty we were about to experience. It turns out Hanauma Bay is a reef and is for snorkeling, not necessarily swimming. So we put on our snorkel gear and visited with the local sea life. It turns out that Marlon and Jana were not particularly fond of snorkeling, however, Brian and I were great snorkeling buddies!!! We swam with sea turtles, sea urchins and every kind of tropical reef fish you can think of. The fish were in abundance. Brian and I now have a favorite sport! Snorkeling!!!
We also visited the East side of the island in search of the perfect beach! Well, we believe we found it. Wiamanalo Beach was perfect. The sand was beautiful gold and the water was a surreal turquoise. The kids loved the big waves and I loved swimming in the ocean. Paradise found!
Hey! Where'd the kids go??? LOL
We ended the day with a refreshing just picked coconut. After we drank the coconut water, the vendor cut up the fruit for us to enjoy! Truly a wonderful vacation...
