Yay! We just returned from our annual birthday camping trip yesterday evening. What a treat! It was 117* in Vegas and only 85* at Bryce Canyon. The weather was beautiful as was the canyon. We were lucky enough to have my wonderful nephew Tyler with us again this year. I am so grateful for the time we get to spend with him.
We stayed at the Bryce Canyon Pines RV Campground. It was a beautiful campground with lots of trees and a pretty view of the meadow. What they don't advertise is the campground is located directly behind the Chevron Station!!! Even so, it was a very nice place to stay.
On our first day, we visited Red Rock Canyon and Navajo Lake. Red Rock Canyon was beautiful. We all had a good time hiking in the canyon among the beautiful red earth and the very interesting hoodoos.
Marlon and the boys climbed a hoodoo...in flip flops!
After we went hiking in Red Canyon, we explored the Virgin River. The water was so cold, which was perfect for the warm weather.
Later that evening we had grilled hamburgers for dinner and smores for desert. I found huge marshmallows for the kids to roast. They had a blast roasting them and eating them. You can see all over Tyler's face how yummy they were! Brian taught Tyler a new way to start a fire.
The next day we woke up and headed to Bryce Canyon National Park. The views were spectacular. The best part of Bryce Canyon was the natural bridge. It is not like other natural bridges in that it was not formed by water, it was formed by wind! I snapped a pic of a bird who was not moving from it's spot for anything!
The last day of our trip, we hung out at the campground and caught up on some much needed rest. I read my book, Jana and I played 'would you rather' and Marlon and the boys played the farming game. Later, we all went to celebrate my birthday at the Bryce Canyon Pines restaurant, had pie at the campsite, and played 'Wits and Wagers' and called it a night.
It was a wonderful time. We all had fun and we look forward to our next excursion!
